About

I am a writer. Dare I say an author, even?

What I will post on this website

For now, my essays, crônicas, and blog posts in newsletter format. You will also find my short stories and other stuff as it comes out.

What are “Crônicas”?

Crônicas, not to be confused with Chronicles, were a popular short-form writing in Brazil and Latin America, historically published in newspapers and periodicals.

They are different from essays in that they don’t intend to convince you of anything; and they are different from short stories in that they aren’t fictional, and seldom have a perfectly linear structure.

They are conversations with you, dear reader, in which metaphysical explorations fit inside a glimpse of daily life, from the tying of a shoe to small talk on the bus. These narratives can sometimes seem borderline garrulous to the unaccustomed eye but are, in my opinion, a portrayal of a writer’s most intimate relationship with the world, with themselves, and ultimately, with you.

Why should you subscribe?

I do not believe in shoulds or shouldn’ts. With that said, I do believe in supporting art for art’s sake, especially in a world that is filled with so much glaring emptiness.

In college, I studied Latin American and Slavic literatures in the 1800s, and I deeply resonate with those works. I also deeply resonate with fantasy and speculative fiction in its multitude of forms. If any of this also speaks to you, then I think you might want to stick around. I am not stopping any time soon, and if I can bring you any respite from the world’s ongoing horrors, then I will have fulfilled my part of the bargain.
